Membership is open to all those interested in works made “in the small”.
The annual subscription is R140 for either artist or patron. The year will run from the beginning of January to the end of the December of the same year. The Society holds one to two exhibitions a year. Only those paid-up members may submit work for selection and exhibition. Selection for exhibition is made by a suitably qualified committee, which will provide a brief critique of each unselected work.
Members will receive informative newsletters throughout the year. When possible regular meetings, critiques and workshops are held. These are particularly organised in order to help and encourage new members.
Some of our artists have gone on to enter work in the leading American exhibitions (refer to links on home page). In 2011, three of our artists received awards at the Miniature Art Society of Florida’s 36th Annual International Miniature Art Show. Chrysoula Argyros received First Place for Transparent Watercolour, Pat Puttergill won Judge’s Second Choice & Karyn Wiggill (Bell) received Best Work by a Young Artist.
The World Federation of Miniatures recently held their 5th World Exhibition of Miniatures, hosted by the Russian Society. Several members had work accepted which was on display during September 2012. A total of seven awards were up for grabs, three of which were bestowed on our members. Abe Mathabe won Best Etching, Louise Goudemond received the Best Portrait award and Karyn Wiggill (Bell) was awarded Best Drawing. Well done to these members!
